My opinion of Shiori? Well, I've made a site to her, so obviously I like her!

Ok, ok, seriously. It goes much deeper than that...

Shiori is misunderstood..I mean, who's never been jealous, even of their best friend? Shiori's only human, and honestly, (myself included), who hasn't, even secretly, admired and envied a golden goddess like Arisugawa=Sempai?

Shiori must be going through Hell trying to hide and suppress her feelings of jealousy. I do agree that it's a bit mean to try and hurt your best friend out of jealousy, but like I before stated...she's human, and jealousy IS a powerful force..!

Now imagine finding that the best friend you envy so much is also in love with you? And that it's been a secret all these years, your face in a locket, being pined and obsessed over? That's disturbing and creepy enough in itself, but if you're a homophobe(I am NOT, for your informatuion, I am Bi, and I DO lose some respect for Shiori for her phobia), that makes it just so much harder to take.

And what about the whole deal with Ruka? He seduced her, and then broke her heart, all for Juri. To imagine that the man you love and thought loved you, was only playing with you in order to get to the one you hate? To me it must be much harder since in high school, the boy Shiori liked ALSO liked JUri! Yes, it's wrong what she did, but Ruka's actions are ten times worse, in my humble opnion...!

And people, to think they called her a "Slut"?! Shiori only slept with one man-who used the poor girl. Yet Utena open;ly slept with Akio, and knew he was engaged at the time. How many people call Uterna a "Slut"? No one that I've met. So if you're going to point fingers and call names, be sure you're saying it to right person for their actions. In my eyes, Shiori does not fit that title.

All in all, I have to personally say that I like Shiori-she and Juri are my favorite UTENA characters, and with any luck, after reading thjis essay, you'll agree!
